Your journey from cosmopolitan Paris to classical Rome will reveal the romantic wine region of Burgundy, the stunning lakes of Switzerland, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Renaissance architecture of Florence, the rolling hills of Tuscany, and the enchanting floating city of Venice. Feel the soul of Paris at Montmartre with its Sacré-Cœur Basilica, take the world’s only open-top cable car (optional excursion) into the breathtaking Swiss Alps, immerse yourself in the history, art, and architecture of Da Vinci’s Florence, and savor a vineyard dinner in the heart of Tuscany. Pose at the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa and catch your breath at the first glimpse of the Colosseum in Rome. Highest Elevation: 3,855 feet in the St. Gotthard Tunnel. Some tours take the pass in nice weather and this is 6,919 feet. Hotels in Switzerland are as high as 2,900 feet. Walking Expectations: “Active” - An average of 3 1/2 miles per day often encountering uneven surfaces, steps and inclines.

DAY 1 - Overnight Flight to Europe.
Today begins your Paris, Tuscany & Rome adventure. The Image Tours “Departure Instructions” will provide guidance for airport check-in. Relax on your transatlantic flight with the assurance that Image Tours has taken care of all the details.
DAY 2 - FRANCE . . Arrival at Paris Airport.
Refer to the “Arrival Instructions” for directions on where and when to meet your Tour Manager. A deluxe motor coach will take you to your hotel. The afternoon is yours to relax or to jump-start your visual and culinary exploration in the “City of Light.” We suggest a visit to Montmartre, with its impressive Sacré-Coeur Basilica. An independent dinner allows you the choice of a light crêpe or a leisurely Parisian meal.
DAY 3 - FRANCE . . Paris.
The entire day focuses on Paris. Your tour manager will point out the main sights, such as the Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre Museum (open daily except Tuesdays), Opera (Palais Garnier) and Galeries Lafayette department store. A great way to begin your sightseeing is by joining the optional Seine River Cruise excursion (see Optional Excursions) for views of Notre Dame Cathedral, Eiffel Tower, and other incredible landmarks along the river. Tonight, join your fellow tour members for a “Welcome to Europe” dinner at a festive Paris bistro. (Breakfast,Dinner)
DAY 4 - FRANCE . . Beaune.
Travel through the Burgundy wine region this morning on the way to the historic walled city of Beaune. After check-in at your hotel, spend some time exploring the landmarks of this intriguing town, one of France’s major wine centers going back to pre-Roman times. An independent dinner presents the opportunity to visit a wine cellar and to sample the regional cuisine. (Breakfast)
DAY 5 - FRANCE . . Besançon - Alsace Wine Region & SWITZERLAND . . Swiss Alps.
After a mid-morning stop in the charming town of Besançon, enter Switzerland at the Rhine River port of Basel. Spend the next two nights in a scenic village surrounded by the unsurpassed splendor of the Swiss Alps. (Breakfast,Dinner)
DAY 6 - SWITZERLAND . . Lucerne - Swiss Alps.
Feast your eyes on the impressive views of Lake Lucerne, framed by the mountain peaks of Rigi and Pilatus. Stop in the village of Stans for the optional Swiss Mountain excursion (see Optional Excursions) by funicular and cable car. This afternoon, explore Lucerne with its Old Town Wall and Lion Monument. Before returning to your hotel for dinner, consider joining the optional Swiss Lake Boat Ride excursion (see Optional Excursions). (Breakfast,Dinner)
DAY 7 - SWITZERLAND . . Lugano & ITALY . . Montecatini Terme.
Travel through the Swiss mountains via the 11-mile-long Gotthard Tunnel on the way to subtropical Lake Lugano, often referred to as the “Rio de Janeiro of the Old Continent.” After an independent lunch, cross the border into Italy. By late afternoon, arrive in the spa resort town of Montecatini-Terme, with its pastel-tinted buildings on palm-lined streets. (Breakfast)
DAY 8 - ITALY . . Pisa – Florence – Montecatini-Terme.
Today starts with a visit to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Next, focus on the rich architecture and art of Florence, including the bronze baptistery doors by Ghiberti, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and countless sculptures. After a guided walking tour, shop for leather goods and jewelry on the Ponte Vecchio Bridge. Enjoy a typical Tuscan dinner at a local farm before returning to your hotel. (Breakfast,Dinner)
DAY 9 - ITALY . . Siena – Rome.
Take in your final impressions of Tuscany as you travel past rolling hills and olive groves to the beautiful town of Siena. Explore on your own, or take the optional Siena Duomo excursion (see Optional Excursions). After an independent lunch, head for the “Eternal City” of Rome. Dinner will be provided upon arrival at your Rome area hotel. (Breakfast,Dinner)
DAY 10 - ITALY . . Rome.
A guided morning tour features popular Roman sights, such as the Arch of Constantine, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and the Piazza Navona. For the rest of the day, explore your personal interests or join the optional Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel excursion (see Optional Excursions). Tonight, enjoy a “Farewell Dinner” with fellow tour members at your hotel. (Breakfast,Dinner)
DAY 11 - ITALY . . Rome.
Transfer to the historic area of Rome near the Colosseum for another full day of discovery. This afternoon, your tour manager will offer the optional Colosseum excursion (see Optional Excursions) for a guided interior tour of this colossal structure as well as the neighboring Roman Forum. Savor your final meal of the tour during an independent dinner or join the optional Rome Dinner excursion (see Optional Excursions). (Breakfast)
DAY 12 - Daytime flight back to U.S.A.
Transfer to Rome Fiumicino Airport for your return flight home. (Breakfast)

DAY 2 - FRANCE . . Arrival at Paris Airport.
Upon arrival in Paris, meet your tour manager and transfer (1 hr) to your hotel for a two-night stay. The remainder of the day is yours to rest or jump start your sightseeing with a walk through Montmartre, Paris' Old Town.
DAY 3 - FRANCE . . Paris.
Full day in Paris. Your tour manager will familiarize you with some of the major sights (1 hr transfer into center). Then, explore individually or join the optional Seine River Cruise excursion. After your included "Welcome to Europe" dinner at a festive Paris Bistro, return (¾ hr) to your Paris hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 4 - FRANCE . . Paris - Beaune.
Depart (2 hrs) Paris and, after your morning stop, travel (2 hrs) through the Burgundy vineyards to Beaune. Once you have checked into your Beaune Hotel, explore this walled city, one of the key wine centers of France. (Breakfast)
DAY 5 - FRANCE . . Besançon - Alsace Wine Region & SWITZERLAND . . Swiss Alps.
A morning drive (1½ hrs) will bring you to Besançon, where you will have time for an independent lunch. Travel (2½ hrs) through the Alsace Wine Region into Switzerland. After a comfort stop, continue (2 hrs) to your Swiss Alps Hotel for a two-night stay. (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 6 - SWITZERLAND . . Lucerne - Swiss Alps.
In the morning, transfer (½ hr) to the old mountain village of Stans, with an optional Swiss Mountain excursion. Next, motor along the lake (½ hr) to the city of Lucerne. Consider the optional Swiss Lake Boat Ride excursion before transferring (½ hr) back to your Swiss Alps Hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 7 - SWITZERLAND . . Lugano & ITALY . . Verona.
This morning, travel south (1½ hrs). After a short rest stop, continue (1 hr) to Lugano with its stunning lakeside setting. After independent lunch, cross the border (1½ hrs), and travel through Italy (1½ hrs) to Verona of Romeo & Juliet fame. After independent dinner, transfer (½ hr) from Verona to your hotel. (Breakfast)
DAY 8 - ITALY . . Venice.
Travel (2 hrs) to Venice, for an entire day of sightseeing in this spectacular city. Enjoy a guided walking tour followed by free time. This evening consider the optional Venice Dinner excursion before returning (2 hrs) to your Verona Area hotel. (Breakfast)
DAY 9 - ITALY . . Lucca - Pisa - Montecatini-Terme.
Drive (1½ hrs) south into Tuscany to your morning stop. Continue (1½ hrs) to the medieval center of Lucca. From Lucca transfer (½ hr) to Pisa. This evening travel (1 hr) to your Montecatini-Terme hotel for a two-night stay. (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 10 - ITALY . . Florence - Montecatini-Terme.
This morning, travel (1½ hrs) to Florence. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the city and explore independently for the rest of the day. Drive (1½ hrs) to a local vineyard restaurant for dinner before returning (½ hr) to your Montecatini-Terme hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 11 - ITALY . . Siena - Rome.
Depart your Montecatini-Terme hotel (2 hrs) for a late morning stop in Siena. Join the optional Siena Duomo excursion for more in-depth exploration. In the afternoon, travel (2½ hrs) to your dinner stop, consisting of homemade specialties and continue (1 hr) to your Rome Area hotel for a three-night stay. (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 12 - ITALY . . Rome.
The morning city tour features popular Roman sights (3 hrs including stops). In the afternoon, explore Rome independently or join the optional Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel excursion (½ hr transfer). This evening return (½ hr) to your Rome hotel for a "Farewell Dinner." (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 13 - ITALY . . Rome.
Continue your independent discovery of Rome (½ hr transfer) or join the optional Colosseum excursion. This evening, savor your final meal of the tour during an independent dinner or the optional Rome Dinner excursion. Return (½ hr) to your Rome hotel. (Breakfast)
DAY 14 - Daytime flight back to U.S.A.

Optional Excursions provide the flexibility to choose between leisure time or additional guided sightseeing activities. MASTERCARD®, VISA®, or DISCOVER® (no other credit cards are accepted) are recommended to avoid carrying excessive cash and exchange rate fluctuations. You must be able to present the actual card to your tour manager. If you bring a DISCOVER® card, also bring a VISA® or MASTERCARD®, as DISCOVER® is not widely accepted in Europe. 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. $70.00Reach the summit of Mount Stanserhorn (elevation 6,232 feet) by both cog-wheel train and the world’s only open-top cable car. At the highest stop, enjoy the panoramic views from the terrace, take a walk along the paths, and snap pictures of the magnificent alpine vistas. This excursion is subject to favorable weather and cable car operation, and may be rescheduled or cancelled. In some cases, another mountain may be substituted.
SWISS LAKE BOAT RIDE
3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. $55.00Board a steamer for a relaxing and scenic ride on Lake Lucerne. The lake borders four cantons (states) of Switzerland and, for this reason, is also known as Vierwaldstättersee (“Lake of the Four Forest Cantons”). Your cruise will provide splendid views of the surroundings, comprised of mountain cliffs rising up to 5,000 feet, picturesque villages, and gorgeous lakeside resort homes.
VATICAN MUSEUMS & SISTINE CHAPEL
1:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. $125.00Enter the Vatican City, a 110-acre sovereign city-state established within Rome. A local guide will provide commentary as you tour the Vatican Museums, which house some of the most renowned masterpieces of Renaissance art. One of the highlights is the Sistine Chapel featuring Michelangelo’s frescoed ceiling and “The Last Judgment.” Your visit also includes St. Peter's Basilica, where you will find Michelangelo's “Pieta.”
COLOSSEUM

Completed in 80 A.D., the Colosseum was the center of Roman entertainment for more than 500 years.
